After the cold must come the heat! The “Canyon and Deserts” series are inspired by landscapes all over the planet but in particular the beautiful mountains of “the four corners”, the states of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado, including the slot canyons of “Antelope”, the spectacular Sedona Red Rocks and the Grand Canyon. In contrast to the translucency of ice and icebergs, the density of rock asks for a rather different approach: instead of seeing them from-the-outside-in like the icebergs, these sculptures have to be perceived from-the-inside-out as the eye is lead through the transparency of the glass to it`s outer layers and structures.
