“Free as a Butterfly” 2004 SGL, Venlo-Blerick, NL.
Another location from SGL, holding 14 apartments for disabled people and their families. SGL provides with these buildings independent housing for people that society often regards as unable to live on their own. With some personalized help, the occupants can live their lives with a great sense of freedom. This inspired me to use the image of a butterfly flying up in the sky. Together with Tetterode Glass and assisted by Patrick Belli, the wings were made from laminated bend glass sheets, coloring the glue, creating a playful image. A symbol of freedom.
